VLC Media Player which is one of the Best Multimedia Player for Mac, Windows, and Linux. This VLC Mediaplayer was set for iPhone, iPod Touch on the last week , where VLC Media Player for iPad was landed in September 2010. The reports say that this VLC Player may gone from the App Store soon, why ?
Here, one of the primary developers of VLC “Remi Denis-Courmont” said that this VLC Media Player’s VideoLan has sent to Apple regarding a formal notification of copyright infringement , the way VLC for iOS is distributed in the App Store. Where this VLC for iOS was developed by a third party studio Applidium.
This was the problem, where VLC Media Player is free and Open Source program which is distributed under the GNU General Public License (GPL). The problem was this VLC for iOS was distributed under the Apple iTunes Terms and Conditions. This Condition doen’t allow users to install the both Free and Paid Apps on more than 5 Devices.

Where this restriction is also known as “DRM” Digital Rights Management. Even when this VLC for iOS is free, VideoLan will not accept the fact that Apple’s DRM goes against the original GNU License VLC’s Code is based on.
Denis-Courmont also suggests that it’d be best to go looking for more open mobile platforms:
“In any case, while the rules for distribution of open-source or “free” (as in speech) software are extremely relaxed, they do exist and have to be abode by. VLC and open-source software in general would not have reached their current quality and success if it had not been for their license. Therefore, blatant license violation cannot be tolerated at any rate. Concerned users are advised to look for application on more open mobile platforms for the time being.”
This makes many to think that VLC for iOS will gone soon, and this was not the issue of GNU. The same happend earlier this year 2010 with an iOS port of GNU Go too. This was a Ches game which was distributed under GPL. Where this Game was distributed under Apple DRM, and didn’t changed their Terms and Conditions, which was noticed by the Free Software Foundation, and they removed that Application from App Store.
Here is one question, What you think about Apple’s DRM System, and VLC for iOS will be removed from the App Store or they change the Terms and Conditions ?
